Two great leaders and servants, we celebrate your birthday today. Both of them served their countrymen and mankind. Swami Ji Maharaj influenced them both. He gave Gandhi Ji a Mala and asked him to do Ram Naam practice in a disciplined way daily. Prem Ji Maharaj was guided and groomed to serve all sadhaks in Shreeramsharnam, people at work, and others by giving homeopathic medicines for their ailments.
Let us celebrate it by following in their footsteps. Starting today we can be more aware of our culture and heritage that includes Nishkam Seva, Nishkam Prarthana (Selfless service and prayer).
Mahatma Gandhi was instrumental in freedom of country while Prem Ji Maharaj following in the footsteps of Swami Ji Maharaj showed us how to free ourselves from the bondage of attachments and the attractions of the world with Seva and Simran.
We pray to Lord Shree Ram to give us one small quality of each one of these two Masters who really served the Great Master, The Lord of all by serving His children.
RRJ: Namaste EW. Imagine you are having Leela in your mind.
What would you like to gain from or experience from practice of Ram Naam?
EW: Namaste. I would like to have Anand.
RRJ: Okay. Remember Pujya Maharaj Ji has said…Ram hee Ma hai aur Ma hee Ram hai. Get this feeling right now that you are sitting in Divine Mothers lap. So pick any word that starts with or has a letter R, A, M, or N for Naam that will give you Anand or Bliss. You can also sing a dhun or a bhajan if you like.
EW: Ram Japo Ram Japo…Ram Japo Ram Japo
RRJ: Now close your eyes and be still and practice Ram Naam in your mind and experience Anand. Can you do this for a few minutes?
After a few minutes – both of us opened the eyes and shared our experiences of feeling happier and peaceful.
EW: I will do this for a longer period of time from now on. This was easy and had a blissful feeling in it.
RRJ: Swami Ji Maharaj encouraged sadhaks in this manner – While doing practice on Mala let your fingers, tongue, and ears dance to the tune of Ram with bliss or anand.
EW: Great. Let us do this for a few minutes.
A sense of sweet taste in the mouth along with continued anand or bliss was flowing through us.
PLEASE TRY ALL OF THIS OR ANY PART OF IT OR IF YOU WISH. MODIFY IT TO SUIT YOU AND ENJOY THE ANAND OR BLISS OF RAM NAAM.
Kripa Karo Mere Ram Kripa Karo
Mere Ram Tujhe Main Kaise Janoo, Kaise Pehchanoo
Na Tu Dikhta Hai, Na Tu Bolta Hai
Par Tere Naam Ka Gun-Gaaan To Teeno Lok Main Hota Hai
Suna Hai Aise Maine, Par Sunane Se Balak Santusht Nahin Hota Hai
Santo Ne Tere Naam Ki Mahima Gayee Hai
Sadguru Ne Tera Naam-Daan Diya Yeh Unki Badai Hai
Issi ko Sambhavta Prem Kahte Hain
Balak To Ma Ki Gaud Main Prem Paate Hain
Ma Apni Gaud Main Bitha Kar Krip-Rupi Dudh Pila
Iss Dudh-Muhe Balak Ko
Apni Prem Bhari Aankhon Se Nihar Mujhe
Tujhe Bhi Aise Hi Niharoon Yeh Sikha Mujhe
Mere Ram Kripa Karo Aisi Kripa Karo
Divine love is the true love.
Physical love between two bodies is called lust.
To love God is to love all.
Shree Krishna represents Supreme Soul as Divine Love. Shree Ram as Grace.
As Param Pujya Maharaj Ji has mentioned in his pravachans
To Love God is to Love all.
Some sadhaks came to him and said they Love God so much and they cannot live without Him but they had problems with such and such people in the family, etc.
Mere Parmatma Tu Ek Tere Roop Anek. Tere anek roop hamein moh maya ke jaal main fasa dete hain. Kripa kar ki hum Naam aur Naami dono se pyar karein.
Let us do our sadhana with love and love all starting on this auspicious day.
Shree Ram is the source of life, mother of universe, source of divine love, source and infinite reservoir of all powers. We may or may not get the bhavana or the feeling to connect with Shree Ram with love and devotion by thinking in these ways.
Let us change or add to the above – as our Gurujans suggest we can think of ourselves as a newborn divine child of Divine Mother Shree Ram. Pujya Maharaj Ji says. “Ram hee Ma hai aur Ma hee Ram hai”. We must not only think this way but feel that way in our minds and hearts and also totally depend on Divine Mother in every way and to purify us. So this defines our relationship with Shree Ram from now on in the following way as the Lord puts it:
I am Love/the Divine Lover and you are my beloved children. (Parmatma Premi hai aur Hum hain uske Priyatam)
Let us evaluate our relationship with our Gurujans now. Our Gurujans have taught us that Guru is not a body but a tattva, meaning reality or the truth or the knower of the reality or the truth. So Guru can lead us from darkness to light, show us the path we must walk on to go towards Shree Ram, our Divine Mother. As we know child has to walk one step or crawl or even hint that he or she wants to go toward mother and mother comes running and picks the child up.
Our relationship with Guru is one of Guru and Shishya or The Guru and disciple … a student who wants to learn and walks on the path shown by the Guru.
A path of living life filled with love of Ram Naam, with love for all, becoming a better human being, searching for lasting peace, etc. All of that is not easy but we must walk on that path because that is the path that can take us to Shree Ram in . To make it easier we can walk, crawl, or run towards becoming a newborn divine child.
Many Sadhaks feel that our Gurujans are also Premi or Divine Lover as Shree Ram and they have given us the love of a mother in addition to giving us Ram Naam, Discourses, and Satsangs.
They are no longer in the body but their love will always be with us.
This is our true relationship with them. This is the relationship we can bring to the world if we so desire. We have to make this choice…each one of us.
Dear Spiritual Seekers,
Let us bring our mind in line with the teachings of our Gurujans.
Pujya Maharaj Ji in one of is discourses said that we have grace of the Lord, scriptures, and saint souls. To succeed in our spiritual practice we need to also have grace of the mind.
Let us commit all of our mind and visualize that we will be successful in our spiritual practice.
Let’s continue to focus the mind again and again on this worthwhile goal.
Swamiji Maharaj says in Bhakti Prakash that if you have succeeded in your mind you will succeed and if you have failed in your mind you have already failed.
Let’s use all the methods shown to us by our Gurujans to bring the mind in line and pray to Lord Shree Ram for His grace.
Before becoming a happy divine baby we must become a little more contented grown-up being
Our loving Gurujans advise us that we need to limit our worldly desires and be a little more content with what we have.
If we don’t limit our desires, our face stays turned towards the world and away from God – what can God do? So, let us follow our Gurujans and their advice..
They show us how to be the divine baby.
- Eat less – a baby eats or drinks only when hungry and the amount that is sufficient. Eating natural, whole, and healthy diet in moderate quantities will keep us healthy in body. Our mind will be alert to do the sadhana (spiritual practice) better.
- Be with Mother-Divine Mother … baby does that and wants that. Talk to Her, smile, and play in Her lap. Ram, Ram, Ram, Ram … call Her like a baby, with love.
Now we are able to turn towards Shree Ram, with a stronger desire to experience God’s bliss (Param-anand) just like a baby.
Please select better foods in the quantity that your body needs, keep mind clean by letting go of negative thoughts. Staying a little more content everyday with what God has given us, smiling more, and loving everyone a little more will help us stay closer to Shree Ram .
If we set some boundaries for our worldly desires, we are highly likely to experience the boundless love of God, the stuff we are made of. Supreme Soul is living in each being as the soul. With this understanding we start our day with contentment and peace. Without contentment and peace we cannot be a happy divine baby.
Each one of us must make a choice, please join me in choosing to be content, peaceful, and happy like a divine baby while living our grown-up life with:
Ram Ram Bhaj Kar Shree Ram Kariye Nitya Hi Uttam Kam
(Chanting and Remembering Lord’s sweet name Ram, we are instructed by Gurujans to do good deeds only).
